NY AFFORDABLE HOUSING PROJECT
We are excited to be part a new ground-up affordable housing development project at 1921 Atlantic Avenue, in Brooklyn, New York. Factor Group has been contracted to characterize, transport, and dispose of over 30,000 tons of fill planned for excavation on the project.
RESTORATION
We love complex projects at Factor Group, and this one was no exception! Due to historical contamination in shallow site soils, the owners enrolled this site in the New York State Brownfield Clean Program (BCP). Once completed it will serve as a great example of successful contaminated property restoration.
A WORTHY PROJECT
The new mixed-use building complex will boast 235 units, a fresh food market, and community center. The project is backed by the NYC Department of Housing Preservation & Development (HPD) and Housing Development Corporation (HDC). Dabar Development Partners and Thorobird Companies are partnering to develop the site, with Monadnock Construction leading the construction effort. A deeper dive into this great project is here.
RELIABILITY WHEN TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE
The project is on a very tight schedule, and soil disposal is a critical path item. Factor Group mobilized quickly to characterize contamination in the shallow site soils. Within 10 days, Factor collected and evaluated almost 200 delineation soil samples. We used sample results to secure disposal facility approvals for seven different contaminated waste streams. Factor Group hauled and disposed of over 15,000 tons of excavated soils within the first three weeks since the project broke ground in October 2020.
